• Feb 11, 2022: “This was one of the most stressful ski trips I had never experienced. If we had known that we would have to pay for 2 Covid tests out of pocket before and after the trip, we would have never travelled out of the country. Also, the runs were not well marked - we encountered some blue runs that were almost blacks and a green run that had moguls and cliffs. There was a fog layer on the lower mountain and clouds on top which made visibility very difficult. As an almost level 4 skier, I was very intimidated by skiers and snowboarders going way too fast on the greens. Maybe I should just stick with Colorado skiing, since it seems like Whistler is geared more expert skiers. Nonetheless we loved our condo at Woodrun, but the village was impossible to reach by walking. There was also a shuttle strike so we could not easily visit the village without an Uber driver.” 0
• Feb 11, 2022: “Never thought I would say that: very disappointing. Whistler was a dream destination on our list and we waited for our kids to be old enough to enjoy and give them a taste of what to expect when we can finally go over to Europe when Covid calms down a bit. Whistler is a great mountain but by no mean a resort. American tourist be aware there is no charging to your condo reservation (even with ownership???!!!) or on the epic pass. No overnight lockers by the gondola. They even refused to take their own coins currency of 1$ and 2$ coins from our kids. Only bills and credit cards. Thankfully our oldest had his student visa on him and we told him we will cover the fees occurred. I don’t know if we timed our trip wrong in late February, but the snow is not great at all. On top you have some hard packed powder then you migrate to the fog area with mixed conditions and forgot at the bottom it is just granular spring skiing. On a dime you have to alternate between different techniques to turn. This is not groomed deer valley level at all. Blue terrain can be upgraded to black at any time. Make sure the skiers in your party can hold their own. The glacier and bowls are just Easter skiing. No comparison with a mineral basin or top of Jackson or vail or snow mass or highlands. Also, allergy beware. Very difficult to find suitable options. We ended up needing to cook all our meals to keep our youngest safe. I think a lot of people from the UK working and the labeling is so much more controlled by their weight and measure division leading them to assume the same laws apply oversea. I blame this on lack of training from the resort not on the workers. Finally, we came right in the middle of a strike on the buses. They do not have private transportation. They rely on commuter transport. Again a great mountain but not a resort for skiers anyway.” 1
• Feb 11, 2022: “I live in the UK and for the last 15 years I'd wanted to go to travel to Whistler. I'd heard great things and how it was great for boarders. It's a nice place, but then British Columbia is breath taking. I enjoyed the balance of runs between the trees and on the exposed higher mountain sections, but this was overall dulled by the ludicrous cost of the lift pass. There are no options for UK travellers but to buy walk up tickets. the multi-day tickets offer no flexibility and little discount. For my wife and I to ski we were paying 120 each per day. This is triple the cost of Europe, which offers a good discount for a weeks lift pass. Overall the resort wasn't anything or above anything in Europe but was three times the price, we won't be skiing in any of the Vail Resort owned resorts.” 2
